Mabel Mokombore

Mabel Mokombore came to speak to us about African textiles and fabrics, and her mission to bring colour to New Zealand. It was a very engaging talk with exquisite pieces bought in to show us. A stunning jacket caught everyone’s attention even before the talk began, and a necklace she was wearing made from gorgeous buttons inspired a lot of discussion.

Mabel certainly started a great discussion about how we use colour in our quilts, and also in our daily clothing and use.
