Symposium wrap-up
We got to show off our symposium creations at the October meeting, and creations from other classes happening at the same time as well. The pieces in progress range from small pieces to large, almost complete pieces.
Some of our guild members entered the exhibition as well with some success!
As well as our members showing off their class pieces we also had a slide show of photos so those of us who missed out could live vicariously through them.
Two other classes happened over the weekend, and the Monday of our meeting, put on by Capital Quilters. Deborah Boschert did two classes. A two day abstract class where participants bought in inspiration photos and were taught skills that throw normal quilting conventions on their head. There was also a feline participant in this class, who mostly napped on certain people’s work and did not produce a piece to share.
The second class was a landscape class, which used many of the same techniques but had a more structured goal.
Participants came from all guilds in Wellington, Capital as host, Kapiti, Wellington and Pinestream. There were also attendants from Australia and Palmerston North.
Judi quizzed us on quilting acronyms. Favourites included:
FOB -Fear of binding
FART -Fabric Acquisition Road-trip
Sable -Stash acquired beyond life expectancy
Wombat -Waste of material, batting and time
There was also a wonderful show and tell to wrap up the meeting.
